    It could also have been bigger: On 25th September 1972, 46.49% of Norwegian voters had also voted “yes”, but the 53.51 % voting “No” had it. So this was also the second time Norway not entered the forming EU, after having vetoed by the French in the attempts to join in 1963.

    The main reason for voting “no” in 1972 seems to have been fishing-rights, as Europe not seems to accept Norways argument the fish in Norwegian waters are Norwegian commons, and not European.

    Also, Norway have bad experience with joining as an equal partner, and ending as a colony (ask Denmark about that one.)
