18 and ready for war ? No Brother, I was not even ready for war at that age.

    2. OkTennis1543 on

funny how whole generation of boomers had zero wars and now they decided to send their grandchildren to fight their wars… truly the worst generation in the history, from USA, to Europe and Russia, to Australia, they sh*t on the youth.

    3. heapOfWallStreet on

At 18 it’s better to think about pussies not war.

    4. Valahul77 on

I am sorry but this is simply a dumb question to ask. No one is “ready for war” nor that he likes to go to the frontline. You are sent there against your will – otherwise nobody would go fighting.

    5. Alive_Fisherman8241 on

Somehow politicians are always very keen on sending young men to death, instead of taking any accountability for the failed policies they have been forcing on to the continent for decades. These kids were not even adults when you were already screwing up everything, and now they should be ready to die for you?!

Also, where are the feminists now? Can’t see any! Interesingly enough it became customary to hate on men, up to the point when this summer the german public television was spreading direct, unashamed hatred towards men in their idiotic podcast. But when sh*t’s going down, suddenly feminists become just women that needs to be protected…

The question should be: “how can we make this country into a home for which you’re ready to fight”

    7. Sea-Technician1914 on

This creates a difficult problem for Europe. Over the past 7 decades or so, they’ve tried to live peacefully, condemn nationalism, and advocate against war. This has created a very pacifist culture and that will be very difficult to change now.

    8. will_dormer on

in Ukraine it is not manly 18 year olds that fight, so why do we ask our young? Perhaps because we dont believe we need soldiers now, but want professional soldiers in 5-10 years from now?

    9. utsuriga on

What’s with people posting articles from The Telegraph, I mean ffs…

    10. fourby227 on

What people never understand: having a capable army and lots of people trained as soldiers and being prepared for a war in case you get attacked is preventing an actual war. Mandatory military service does not mean you are sending you youth into a war. Its the most effective deterrence. The cold war never turned into a hot war because of all the military.

    11. If any of them say yes, they’re lying… No one is ever ready for war…

    12. giganticturnip on

How about asking 18-year-olds for their solution to the war an whether they want to send the oldies into battle.

    13. Alarming-Ad1100 on

Germany hates their ethnic youth and now they expect them to fight and die in droves again

Should have migrants enlist for their spot in the nation

    14. KralizecProphet on

I guess, since they posed that question, then German 18 year olds think they are ready for war in a an abstract kind of “felt cute might delete later” way 🙂

    15. Altruistic_Ad_0 on

I’m ready to die so pensioners can have a nice retirement!

    16. It would be interesting to know how ”ready” is supposed to be interpreted in this context. Because it can mean two very different things.

    17. battleduck84 on

Conscription is shit, but y’know what’s even worse?

Getting absolutely buttfucked by an invasion because your army is outnumbered 5-1

    18. MACO-Operator on

This stupid questions go round the European countries, trying to find negative views concerning the European unity. Why don’t they go and ask the Russians if they are ready for war? They are actually the only ones invading AND annexing territories left and right. Not the Europeans.

    19. Could you paste the text so we don’t all have to subscribe for a year for a single article 😂💀

    20. Existing_Local2765 on

From Finland, if the germans say no seeing as we are both in NATO with a potential danger in the east i say to you:
Als Dank für NICHT erwiesene Waffenbruderschaft! 💀

The military service isn’t that bad really, you get alot of friends from all walks of life there

    21. This stupid question is comparable to Goebbels’ “Do you want total war?!” It may not be Nazi, but it’s the same stupid idea! Nobody wants war! Nobody is ever prepared for!

    22. PineBNorth85 on

If you want peace prepare for war. Acting weak will only encourage the Russians.

    23. wranklos on

Why would anyone want to fight for immigration LGBT and Israel

    24. Confident_Access6498 on

If they let Germany rearm, another war will flare up in Europe.

    25. TeamPach on

Send the pensionnaires first. They don’t contribute to society anyway.

    26. Eyeoftheuniverse666 on

Its funny how it as Russian blood that won WW2, now the Americans have switched sides.

    27. KINGDenneh on

Hell yeah brother, i will be shooting anything on sight, if you are a friendly or an enemy, u be dead.

    28. RecognitionOld2763 on

The tragedy of pacificism. The West has forgotten the role of organized violence. Its enemies haven’t.

    29. Politicians hide themselves away

      They only started the war

Why should they go out to fight?

They leave that role to the poor, yeah

    30. Foxtrot-Uniform-Too on

I am Norwegian and we had general conscription for young men when I did it. The question is obviously not if you are ready for war, but if you are willing to defend your country if necessary.

The way out was to say you were a pacifist and not willing to take a human life. Then you could spend the same time as the military service as a volunteer worker in a kindergarden or things like that.

I didn’t and still don’t want to go for war, but I didn’t mind spending a year in the military. As a 18-19 year old, I went in a boy and came out a man. I learned so much about myself and how much I actually could do, I got life long friends and life long experiences that has helped me.

But was it easy? No. That is why you grow from that experience. Was it super hard and extreme? No. You learn to handle weapons and stuff, but you learn more about how to learn to be comfortable when you are uncomfortable. You learn to be cold and wet and tired and you learn how to not be so cold, wet and tired the next time. Been there, done that. This is a Tuesday.

    31. Dark_Akarin on

You ready to fight to the death because two billionaires are being stroppy with each other?

    32. ziogio998 on

They’re not asked. If they were asked, that would be voluntary forces. They’re asking because the next step is military conscription. A country that decided you cannot be forced to donate blood, have children, or do anything at all with your body against your will, will now want to decide it can dispose of all of it at a moment’s notice.

Look, all countries need to defend themselves. But doing it using teenagers because you failed to build a voluntary military is truly disgusting, ESPECIALLY when it comes from a socially liberal country like Germany.

    33. SEKenjoyer21 on

Not worth it at all. This nation has nothing left to defend.

    34. Used-Preparation-755 on

      2026 is the year

      US and Europe Vs China.
      US and Europe Vs Russia.
      US and Israel Vs Iran

They will act at the same time.
3 different types of war, reason why you will see US in the 3 theaters

    35. Profetorum on

I mean I wouldn’t go regardless, they would have to come here and force me in. I’d rather go to jail. Jails are gonna be very crowded

    36. dogeswag11 on

Next question they will be asked: “Do you want total war?”

    37. Yes they are. They’re all infact competitive gamers with 240hz screen and in bronze.
