Really surprised by that… obviously guns are far from the only murder method around but still would have expected at least some shootings over the course of a year.
We actually dodged an attempt mass shooting in a carlow shopping centre during summer. Although he shot himself it could have gone the other way.
That Michael Gaine case has the feel of another Sophie Toscan du Plantier situation.
A woman from Co. Clare and her kids were shot dead by their husband/father in Fermanagh over the summer.

Hopefully this trend will continue. Statistically though, that’s a long shot..
