And their wealth fund just hit a record 2 TRILLION dollars. Mostly from selling oil and gas……

I don’t know if it is a good news or bad. I think bad because of all the american teslas. Elon musk is actively working on and paying for breaking up the EU

Horrible news because of the amount of Nazi car.

People defending it “it’s the best car, easy to repair, cheaper loans”. Your moral compass is that low ? You saved few bucks and helped a guy who is exploiting his employees, trying to dismantle the EU, openly doing Nazi gestures and has affiliated speech ?

    Not gonna lie, that’s shameful.

ITT: Redditors learns that most people aren’t chronically online and don’t make politics their entire identity.

Literally, no one in real life cares whether your EV is a tesla or not.

massively ‘subsidised’ – a good spec EV is the same cost as a basic Golf.
    Cheap electricity.
I think you’d have to be a bit daft not to go EV in No.
BYD made a big impact there couple of years ago. Why wouldn’t you have a huge high spec SUV?

  6. In total:

2022: ~174 329 new passenger cars registered, ~79% were electric vehicles.
    2023: 126 953 new cars, ~82.4 % were EV.
    2024: 128 691 new cars, ~88.9 % were EV.
    2025: ~179 549 new cars

  7. That is amazing, especially since one of the biggest complaints is how bad EVs do in cold weather.

  8. Exciting_Product7858 on

Does that matter? Is that many cars at all? I always imagined everyone in Norway already driving electric anyway 😁👌

  9. PanMlody on

In Norway producers are shrinking their choice of models to just the electric ones because hybrids and fossils are hard to sell. It’s because both hybrids and fossils get 25% tax from the price tag while EV’s get 0 so the market here is rigged for the EVs. I was checking out SUV lately and Model Y would be the same price as RAV4 if not for the tax incentive. It’s simply stupid to pay 120-200K nok extra in tax so not everyone wants an EV but everyone wants to save such an amount of money when they get a chance.

Amazing to see Tesla sales surging there. I love to see redditors perplexed when people in real life don’t care about their opinions. Tell me, why aren’t the norwegians buying only european ev’s, since people here told me that we should buy only glorious european products?

Hopefully, Tesla sales will skyrocket in other european countries, just to show redditors that they live in an insane reality, in their heads

  11. Huge sales at the end of the year to avoid the increased taxes.

Until December 31st 2025, there was a VAT exemption for the first NOK 500 000 of a new electric car. This is now lowered to NOK 300 000.

And it will go further down at the start of 2027, probably to zero.

Expecting the electric car share to go down, the question is how much.

  12. Soggy_Pineapple4804 on

This would be fine if it wasn’t achieved by taxing fun petrol cars to oblivion. It’s a shame Norway basically bans fun petrol cars unless you are ultra rich. Although to be fair that was way before the ev push anyways.

  13. Recent-Classic7398 on

Well I wanted to buy a petrol car there and it is just crazy expensive. EVs are pretty cheap there + electricity and charging stations everywhere for a solid price. Sure in the winter the range goes down but you rarely drive more than 200km without a break anyway (especially in winter).
