For a lame-duck Government (and political party, honestly) this is quite a fascinating move, because this will pretty much be repealed immediately once Labour are gone – you’d have thought Labour would want to commit more Parliamentary time to things that are a little more settled than…well, perhaps the *most* controversial aspect of UK policy…I can only assume
As far as I can tell, this is basically a stealth move towards the Norwegian model of EU membership i.e. membership of the single market but not the customs union (or Schengen, in our case) – the fact that Labour are doing something like this like it’s just another international treaty and not something politically onerous that flies in the face of the biggest participation of UK democracy of all time should tell you everything

Great news. We really need to move back towards the EU. Not only is it what the people want the state of geopolitics means we need to embrace our allies. We can probably leverage that to get concessions as well.

So obviously GBNews isn’t affiliated with the KGB. The fact you did not pick up on that proves my intent to mock 🤣

We need the EU. Russia has proven that peace in Europe is nonsense and America are looking towards China as the big threat, so they will not be coming to our rescue any time soon. Purely from a defence perspective, we need to stop focusing on the EU’s imperfections and focus on what they can offer us that we cannot do alone.
