      It’s a dangerously irresponsible game to play. This will only embolden countries to further bully smaller nations. While coercion in international politics already exists through economic power and other means, using military force to coerce a smaller, weaker country like Denmark is absolutely horrific

      Why wouldn’t they take Greenland at this point?

      Seeing how the Europeans reacted to their escapades in Venezuela, and the long tradition of European servility, they are right in assuming they would get away with it.

      The irony is this makes it even more likely that Greenland with withdraw from the treaty that allows the US unrestricted access for military purposes.

      Its a huge win for russia, and jeopardises the security of the western world.

      Well now we are at a stage where it’s quickly becoming reality

      American here. I don’t know a single person where I am that is supporting trump. We fucking hate him and are doing everything we can to shut him the fuck down. I’m so sorry this is happening. The American people do not support this. We need to have our own Nuremberg 2.0 trials and jail for life and convict this administration for treason and war crimes. Russia and stateless oligarchs have hijacked our government and is ordering trump to do these things. Please know this, it all leads back to Putin and stateless oligarchs..

      Get the tripwire in place! Just 1,000 allied soldiers from several NATO and EU countries (especially the big ones) would be an enormous deterrent. If something happens to them, we wake up in a different world.

      I don’t think it’s likely to happen, but to make it even less likely Europe needs to send a clear message that there would be a full scale response if the US attempts to take it by force. The US is very powerful, and could take it eventually. But the geography is in Europe’s favour, as we’re way better trained and equipped for arctic conditions. It would be a heavy price for them to pay with many losses.

      Now I’m not saying we should be be preparing to intern all American servicemen on European soil the moment the US takes overt hostile actions against us, but I’m hoping someone is looking into the logistics of such a plan, at the very least.

      Gives us some leverage we can use.

      Them using protection of NATO as an argument for annexing Greenland is hilarious. What this would actually do is effectively ending NATO and thus delivering eastern Europe to Russia.
