I’m guessing that puts Germany on the US list of countries to take over / intervene?🤔

  2. EveryPen260 on

wait, will germany actually extract ? you know, think about the enviroment, lets put some trees there and buy it from China instead.

43 million tons of lithium in Germany. EU’s battery independence just got a massive boost, no more begging China for critical minerals

  4. A_Man_Uses_A_Name on

This is extremely important as it makes us a little bit less dependent on China for rare earth minerals.

In 3-2-1, environmental rights organizations will arrive; the surrounding towns/cities will go on strike every day to stop the project… This kind of thing always happens in Europe for the rights of ‘everyone under God,’ even though in the long run it would significantly improve dependence on other countries.

It is Germany, so the burocracy and the enviromental issues, will keep this lithium from being mined forever.
You can only mine lithium in third world countries.

  7. SirHighfish on

Which is of no benefit to Germany. Because before they even begin mining, 45 environmental organizations will file a lawsuit.

Just stupid headlines to farm klicks. Lithium is all about the extracting costs.

Contrary to popular opinion, rare earth minerals aren’t rare – They are just really messy to mine, and process.

I guess Germany will do exactly nothing with this Lithium, due to environmental concerns, and measures which would make mining this lithium economically unfeasible.

Reports like this pop up all the time: somewhere in Europe, they’ve discovered a huge deposit of gas, oil, or, as is the case now, lithium.

In reality, it turns out that the deposits aren’t that rich, their extraction is economically unviable, or comes with serious environmental risks.

So, while I’m happy for the Germans, of course, I suspect this news will soon be forgotten as everyone moves on to the next thing.

  11. Sounds like Germany needs freedom and democracy.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

I mean there is plenty of elements everywhere. What is the issue is our enviromental laws and where we can or are willing to mine. If shit hits the fan we can become UK during indurstrial revolution/Ruhr area.

    Wow. So big.

It would be a shame if the USA took all of that water by anexxing Hawaii… Nah probably scared…

Keep looking at it. So blue.
