I’m so glad I stopped using Twitter 5 years ago. It was bad back then, not it’s worse.

This is just dumb. If you have enough money for a current gen gpu you can run models locally and generate whatever you want. There is no way and should not be a way to regulate this cause it would cost all our digital freedom no government should have any right to take.
So instead, when it comes to deep fakes, punish the publishing. Which is already done mainly. You are not allowed to publish certain content. But the laws need to be extended with ai in mind. You should not be able to publish content generated by ai about anyone who did not consent. Not just inappropriate images, but any ai generated images depicting real people cause it can be used to damage someone’s reputation very easily. And the punishment should be pretty harsh if you are caught distributing these images online.
Deep fakes are already used widely for political purposes. Porn is the least of our problems right now. Creating stricter ai content publishing laws depicting real people would solve both issues. Focusing on limiting public models are only good to get brownie points but solves nothing cause it can be easily circumvented. The real issue lies in publishing.
Come on EU ban this app already. It is a cesspool of right wing propaganda, Russian bots and other bots who in every comment ask Grok what the post is about. There is 0 reason to keep this app.

The always claim it’s ‘for the safety of children’ when they want to ban something. That’s how it always begins…
There shouldn’t really be an issue here with the Watchdog adding it to its ban list, all UK ISPs will load the new list on their next regular check and X will be effectively blocked in the UK, I expect X will be a bit more inclined to do something about the issue with Grok at that point, I suspect the EU states would follow fairly quickly once the UK has done it.
