  1. Classic Belgium. Internal fighting prevents a clear position.

It’s funny. The damned thing’s been in negotiation for 25 years, and yet I feel like I know virtually nothing about the deal’s terms.

I wonder why Austria didn’t abstain given that the liberal coalition partner in their government is pretty euphoric about the deal.

Good news, we could not afford to block our industrial growth because of some farmers while Russia, China and the US is attacking Europe. One of the reasons the US economy is still very stable is their gigantic domestic market, which we don’t have in this dimension. So it’s the right decision to extend our own market.

We should have a football match to settle the final terms of the agreement

Bit annoying that Ireland caved to the ever loud, ever angry, ever influential farming vote when it seems like impact for them will be minimal and precautions are in place to protect Irish agriculture.

Deal looks great for the European (and Irish) economies from what I’ve read. I wouldn’t be surprised if our leadership saw that the deal would pass and voted no simply so it could gesture futilely at the EU and say “we triiiied to block it” and keep the farmers on side.
