Of course. They can’t back down now. That would be a sign of weakness and strong men doesn’t want that.

It’s not without consequences though which is the other thing these geniuses doesn’t seem too fully understand.

You either put your foot down, or you risk a repetition of the 1930s with appeasement leading to Anschluss, annexation, and finally war.

If Trump gets to bully one country after another he will never stop. The EU needs to get credible military assets (air defence, navy, limited ground troops) in place that make the US leadership (not just Trump, but Republicans, Congress, the Joint Chiefs of Staff) realise that while they can still win this (the disjointed EU forces can not credibly win a war against a determined US military over Greenland, no matter what), it would be such a messy affair with so many dead Americans and Europeans that the US’ reputation and standing in the world would be in shambles for decades to come.

  4. Maybe its better that something as strategic as Greenland is under US protectorate then perpetual suicidal political thought that encompasses European Union.

Europe looking like Melos in 416 BC, except we got here by purposeful policies of de growth, net zero, deinstrualization, low natality and high immigration from 3rd world countries in last several decades.

No one to blame but us. There is a reason for saying, talk softly and carry a big stick.

“If we don’t do it, Russia or China will take over Greenland. And we’re not going to have Russia or China as a neighbor.”

Well the EU could just dump all US bonds and tank their economy.

Also we evict them from every single EU military and airbase they currently occupy. Take them back.

Can’t have enemy troops within our borders now, can we?

Do you people have any idea how powerful the U.S. military is?? Europe can’t and won’t do anything to stop this if it happens lol 😂 who’s gonna face the U.S. military some dudes in dogsleds? Is a frozen island worth a full on divorce with the U.S.? Europe won’t even defend Ukraine from a full scale assault from Russia.. but they’ll defend a semi autonomous frozen island with 55k people from the U.S.!?

Trump’s favorite president is William McKinley . Under McKinley the US acquired Hawaii ,Puerto Rico and Guam. Two of those are now permanent US colonies without voting rights and Hawaii became a state in 1959 due to international pressure . This is about replicating America’s imperial heritage .

One important thing to know: An internal NATO directive shows that, in an extreme case, a NATO commander would have to coordinate the defense of Denmark and Greenland. Responsibility would lie with Joint Force Command Norfolk, which is led by a U.S. vice admiral. This would place him in the extraordinary situation of potentially having to defend NATO allies against his own government. Within NATO circles, there is discussion about how realistic such a scenario is and what the consequences of a unilateral U.S. move would be.

  12. Parapharsing Churchill, we can choose between war, and humiliating cowardice, if we chose the latter, we’ll get war anyway.

Why don’t we already have European troops in Greenland?
