Farmers always protest. They are always loud and upset and overrepresented in parliaments.
Constituting about 7.5% of employment farmers represent less than (on average) construction workers

I wonder how much representation and support in parliament construction workers have vs farmers

If they wanted to achieve something, they’d do this during the harvesting season. That way they’d have some ACTUAL impact on the economy.

By paralyzing the country IN THE WINTER they show that either (a) they want to be the villains that everybody hates or (b) they’re too stupid to understand how to actually protest.

“Wouldn’t protesting during harvest season hurt THEM the most?”
On paper, maybe. But they get so much shit for free, I’m willing to bet one of my nuts that they’d get full compensation for those losses even if their demands weren’t met.

Taking decisions with qualified majority might not make everyone happy, but taking decisions at unanimity creates the same issue.

At least something gets to be done this way.
