France stepped up for the defense of europe. Something they have been saying since the 50’s. Yet they messed around trying to hold africa and got bad reputation. Hope we can get the focus back on europe this year.

Very good. Thats support that’s enduring and not at the whims of a mercurial goldfish. It also speaks greatly of the capacity of Europe to counter Russia by itself, something it may have to do.

As a French person, I find this dubious.
First of all our intelligence agencies are competent of course but considering they didn’t anticipate the invasion of 2022 I’m surprised they would have stepped up to such a level.
Furthermore, it is strange to see the President disclosing such a fact. France has a long standing tradition to not say out loud anything we do. We will voluntarily stay quiet about any help we give, any activity we have in the dark, etc. The culture of secrecy and strategic ambiguity is usually paramount.
Also I’m afraid it could mean the US has already stopped supplying relevant intelligence, that intelligence supplied to Ukraine from foreign countries has decreased and so 2/3 of a small amount wouldn’t be very much.
