Chinas automotive industry is partly fuelled by debt. Most manufacturers still make losses and a part of their bet was to export and make up for it from the rest of the world. Especially Europe.
There are many automotive factories in China already closed, put on hold or is at just 50% of capacity. It is good that they can’t use Europe to bail them out.

Seems like a genius plan, Russia flanking us on the east, the US threatening us on the west, let’s antagonize China to make our failed autoindustry live another day.

how about we stop for a moment all these topics and focus on getting defence industry going properly.

Good. We need our own industry, not to outsource everything to authoritarian and/or hostile countries.

German industry must’ve paid a lot so good cars like BYD become as expensive as the shitty electric BMW or Audi shitboxes

Commenters here really love losing jobs to China huh. I bet that shiny new BYD is worth all the social issues that come from that.

Does the German auto industry need help? Investing in outdated diesel engines, which are inherently dirty and rely on tricks like DPFs to appear “cleaner,” only to then be outpaced in technology by China, seems like a losing strategy.
