Amid the tragedy, thankful for the emergency crews who stepped up immediately. Hoping the injured recover swiftly.

  2. Unfortunately it looks like the worst is yet to come: all authorities are giving veiled warnings about the crash being pretty terrible, so we need to brace for the number of victims to substantially increase. Extremely sad.

Unlike the Tempi Crash in Greece, there was no fireball or explosion…

I guarantee that this incident will be used in Greece by the opposition to put pressure on the government for the cover up.

    Still very sad

  4. Images from the alvia madrid-huelva train are starting to show up and it looks like and awful crash+derail, so far 21 mortal victims

I’ve used that train several times, same route. They are fast, up to 300 km/h. A semi frontal collision means x2 the speed at that moment… Thank god It was not my day.

Unless the trains were empty, only 5 dead from collision will be a miracle

Europe needs to do better on the reliability and safety of its rail services. Swiss and Japanese experts should come together and engage in interventions across the continent. The crashes that happen across Europe could all be prevented. RIP to the victims.
