But coverage of property damage, poor infrastructure and a photogenic French couple gets the spotlight? I feel sorry for the French couple, basement rentals are dangerous given the floods and lack of alternatives.

Yesterday’s Newstalk Moncreiff show featured a couple who had spent years,3 Christmas’s living in their car because their tenancy ended due to having pets and their employment income simply couldn’t match the rents out there but that didn’t get a headline.

Not to detract from the French couple and their hardship, but overall, the rental market and housing is a fucking disgusting failure in this country when it’s become life or death, survival or oblivion, due to rain, pets, shit infrastructure and lack of supply and cost.

Literally driving folk to the brink while the other half trive and government pat themselves on the back for letting housing and infrastructure fall so far behind.
