So much for the “law & order” Tories. Cut the funding to the bone and watch the country fall apart. At least no one can claim it’s just rich and powerful who get away with breaking the laws.

How is selling counterfeit cigarettes any different to selling an illegal drug? They should be treated like drug suppliers/producers

We live in a two tier society at this point. Bradford is just a preview of what to expect down the line.

The silly price of cigarettes has led to this. People like smoking. They all know it’s bad for them.

Making them as expensive as they are now just creates a revenue stream for organised crime.

Bradford is a wild wild economy. It’s pretty much viewed as being large black market money laundering – fake cigs, drugs, not complying with basic employment laws, ignorance of planning permissions. Spend a day in the city exploring these shops. It is bonkers. And the sad thing is that turning a blind eye to minor crimes like this only encourages worse and that’s why having car insurance in bradford is an optional extra and thats why, ultimately, it’ll transpire that the city was the centre of the grooming scandals.

Why not just give them powers to issue Fixed Penalty Notices for the minor offences. If courts had to deal with every speeding offences we’d up with a 20 year backlog.

Trading Standards can already issue FPNs for certain offences so why not expand their powers.

Good. Considering it’s almost 25 quid (it’s gone up over £15 in about 4 years) for a 30g pouch of tobacco these days, people selling cheap tobacco products are providing a valuable public service.

Just a little bit of tax avoidance, it can’t be wrong if those in power do it too!

The Nation State of Bradford is perfectly entitled to enact its own laws. The Bradford Tea Party proceeds full steam.

I thought we could start banning shops from selling tobacco since last years tobacco and vapes bill. Ban them from tobacco, alcohol, and selling lottery stuff and the problem should solve itself.
