      RTE’s previous logic, that the had to pay presenters a fortune or lose them due to demand, in a shambles right now

      I am fine with Tubridy. I feel he got more backlash than what was needed and made the scapegoat for RTE. The bosses of RTE were the real messes in all of this. Tubridy was never gonna say no to extra bonuses on offer. I know I wouldn’t have.

      Ah yes the scape goat that is Ryan Tubridy, he didn’t deserve the public outrage.

      The signed contracts were above board, it was RTE who approved the contracts! I still to this day do not understand how quickly it became a public witch hunt at an individual instead of RTE

      Edit: lol, he didn’t even set up his own channel, it’s on his agents (NK) channel.

      God, path to power is so unbelievably shite now. It’s the last word premium. Same guests, often making the same points that they made on the last word, but it costs money.

      Ivan is a horrible wanker but he’s an entertaining horrible wanker.

      He has a show on Sundays, on Limericks live 95FM.
      You’re not in RTE no more lad.

      And I saw an ad for an interview with him on Virgin.

      Looks like a right fluff piece where he attempts to potray himself as an ordinary guy who drives a ford focus, and not a privileged little fucker who ate at the trough until he was dragged away.

      Did RTE not understand you can put anyone in those prime TV slots/shows and they’re gonna get views.

      Old people will just watch it because they always have.

      Of course the people who watched him on RTE don’t watch him on YouTube. They can barely work a TV most of them, let alone subscribing on YouTube.

      What happens when someone with no real talent, and who has been propped up by studios and benefactors in the past, has to now go it alone or at least under the radar.

      I doubt Tubridy is too worried about, though. He made his money.

      Irelands top talent for decades we were lucky to keep for so long. A grandfather running RTE was coincidence

      The Peter Principle applies here I think, he was promoted beyond his level / comfort zone. He is much better on the radio than he was on The Late Late, but the LLS was lots of people’s only experience of him, and he was judged unfairly, imo.

      I found it funny how there was this big thing about him going to the BBC, and nobody in the U.K has a fucking clue who he is

      Looking a those episode titles it’s hard to grab the show’s focus. They’re not eye catching and rather drab.

      At RTÉ, he was paid around a grand for every view he can get on Youtube now.

      It’s all about who you know. Ryan Tubridy’s grandfather being the founding Managing Director of Telefís Éireann.

      Like, how do Bernard O’Shea, Deirdre O’Kane, Chris Kent and all these terrible comedians get these slots/gigs on RTÉ? Is this really the best our country can offer?

      Karma. They’re trying awfully hard to push him back on the Irish public now as if it’s some type of renaissance. Not having it. He’s the ultimate nepo baby and failed to crack the uk market because he’s talentless

      Regardless of any scandal, he was the most overrated, hollow presenter going.
