It looks like OP posted an AMP link. These should load faster, but AMP is controversial because of [concerns over privacy and the Open Web](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmputatorBot/comments/ehrq3z/why_did_i_build_amputatorbot).

Most of its users are there for child sexual abuse material so of course

Durov is right. Spain and Europe as whole is trying to push laws and regulation for more internet surveillance and control, using excuses like “THINK OF THE CHILDREN”.

It was chatcontrol at first, that didn’t work out …yet. I think sooner or later they will implement it unless a huge change happens in European peoples minds, and they start standing up for their rights and freedoms. Now they are pushing for digital IDs, biometric scans, face recognition etc. People seriously need to stand up to these scum otherwise one day (in a near future) we will wake only to find ourselves living in Orwells 1984 world.

He needs to send a mass message every time he tries to reach his own 100+ children…

These guys are actively undermining our democracies. They’d better shut their mouths.

Social networking is a cancer on society no issues with this and perhaps just stopping it all is fine too (unlikely I know)

  7. “Shit … they are taking away our god given right to make money from children’s attention! How very dare they.”

can this be qualified as an interference? He is a CEO but no god. Who gave him right to send unsolicited messages?

In Russia Telegram calls have been completely blocked for almost half a year now.
Over the past couple of months the speed of file transfers, videos, and voice messages has been catastrophically throttled.
At the same time Telegram is the number one messenger in Russia and across the CIS by share of users.

Yet all i see is Durov the so-called fighter for freedom of speech, talking about how unfair France, Romania and Spain are while not saying a single damn word about Russia or the policies of the Russian authorities toward his own messenger. And this is despite the fact that the user share in Russia is incomparable to that of the countries he mentions.

His words would carry some weight or credibility if, in reality, he weren’t just an ordinary hypocrite who defends freedom of speech only where it is safe to do so without consequences for himself or his business.

All i can do is congratulate president Macron on whom he granted French citizenship to.

Oh dear, Pavlov at it again? It’s the russian version of Elon Musk this guy here.

🇪🇸 My message to Telegram users in Spain ❗️

    >

    >Pedro Sánchez’s government is pushing dangerous new regulations that threaten your internet freedoms. Announced just yesterday, these measures could turn Spain into a surveillance state under the guise of “protection.” Here’s why they’re a red flag for free speech and privacy:

    >

    >

    >

    >⚠️ Danger: It sets a precedent for tracking EVERY user’s identity, eroding anonymity and opening doors to mass data collection. What starts with minors could expand to all, stifling open discourse.

    >

    >2. Personal and criminal liability for platform executives: If “illegal, hateful, or harmful” content isn’t removed fast enough, bosses face jail.

    >

    >⚠️ Danger: This will force over-censorship—platforms will delete anything remotely controversial to avoid risks, silencing political dissent, journalism, and everyday opinions. Your voice could be next if it challenges the status quo.

    >

    >3. Criminalizing algorithm amplification: Amplifying “harmful” content via algorithms becomes a crime.

    >

    >⚠️ Danger: Governments will dictate what you see, burying opposing views and creating echo chambers controlled by the state. Free exploration of ideas? Gone—replaced by curated propaganda.

    >

    >4. “Hate and polarization footprint” tracking: Platforms must monitor and report how they “fuel division.”

    >

    >⚠️ Danger: Vague definitions of “hate” could label criticism of the government as divisive, leading to shutdowns or fines. This can be a tool for suppressing opposition.

    >

    >These aren’t safeguards; they’re steps toward total control. We’ve seen this playbook before—governments weaponizing “safety” to censor critics. On Telegram, we prioritize your privacy and freedom: strong encryption, no backdoors, and resistance to overreach.

    >

    >✊ Stay vigilant, Spain. Demand transparency and fight for your rights. Share this widely—before it’s too late.

    Spanish president?

Excuse me, when did the spanish crown get abolished and why didn’t i hear of it sooner?

  13. araujoms on

Ironically enough demonstrating why social media needs to be brought under control. This shady character is not even a Spanish citizen, but has the power to send a message to the phones of millions of Spaniards, and is trying to use his power to influence Spanish politics.

Durovs app is the preferred messaging app for a warring nation,  terrorists and nonce’s.

  15. kewthewer on

Why does this person deserve to be listened to by a president? The arrogance.

  16. I simultaneously support both free, publicly available messaging apps with encryption the government can’t break as well as sensible restrictions on social media usage. We don’t have to be ever loyal to tech giants and developers. I like the guy and use telegram daily, but he’s wrong about this.

“Personal and criminal liability for platform executives”

this is the part that is making them shit their pants. they might finally have to face consequences of their actions.
