Shameful. We’ll all give out online while US tech companies influence our laws and our country, and then back to normal on Monday when there’s something new to be outraged about.

We need a government that can diversify our economy and look further ahead than the next election cycle. Not licking the boots if us companies so they were don’t piss them off.

Were a lapdog of a country

I have no issue with the taoiseach going over. Like it or not the US is a vital trade partner.
However the other 37 (!) representatives of the government traveling all over the place… That is utterly wasteful and I fail to see that as a worthwhile investment. Invite other foreign representatives here instead.

Of course he did, because he’s a spineless, chicken shit cunt!

  4. Kloppite16 on

the article doesnt name the date, last year St Patricks Day was the 12th of March in the White House and the 17th of March was McGregor meeting Trump.

  5. Dry-Emotion30 on

Of course he did. He’s an absolute cretin who loves the attention. He’ll smile and nod and do a few tricks like Trumps little bitch. Well done, Mehole.

Anyone really surprised? Martin is a complete lickspittle

  7. For the 250th year thats in it , he has to go and claim Irish America as being our Ireland.. There is another bunch from up north only too damn willing to claim it this year,.. and in fairness not without cause to their history.

Racist, genocide enabling, pedofile, Nazi cunt. Fuck shaking his hand. Fuck not standing for something more than money. MM is a coward.

On the day Trump (or rather, “his intern” as the White House is now saying after deleting it) posted a video of the Obamas as monkeys.

  10. Barryd09 on

Spinless prick. Some things are more important than trade and money.

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t tbh. He declines and watch Trump lash some tariff on us that leads to jobs cuts which he’ll inevitably be blamed for

This country is so pathetic, we lost one coloniser and gained another. Vote this spineless cunt out and soon as we can.

We are a tiny little island in the Atlantic, be humble

Good he’s going, Trump is just one man and will be gone soon, let’s keep the relations and the nice jobs that nation provides us

Just to be clear; the US is fucking deplorable, has been deplorable and, in all likelihood, will always be deplorable.
MM is a snivelling shitheel with no backbone, similar to that of any other FFG windbag we’d end up with in the Dáil.
We need to commit to something other than appeasement and have some fucking morality.

MM was 100% right and if you think different you need your brain examined, He was on an interview there recently i think with claire byrne and she was questioning him about the visit. MM was like i cannot not go and she kept questioning him.

30% of our exports is to to the USA, think about it.

If we lost the trade with the US jesus christ we would be bankrupt. Trump likes Ireland. MM has no choice in the matter. you can disagree with ICE.

If anyone else thinks differently your stone wall mad. If you don’t think we need ameraica on side your fucking crazy or don’t have the knoweldge to understand what cutting all ties wth US would mean, it would be a major recession, worse than we have ever had seen

Boot licking fucknut. I wish we’d get our shit together and vote FFFG out.

A handful of American Tech / Pharmaceutical Companies are the only reason we have the “largest GDP in Europe” . Obviously all of us regular folk don’t see that and live in a desolate landlord hellscape but i imagine it might be somehow worse if Trump turned his bleary paedo eye towards us? I don’t know. The last week of news has entirely eroded my sense of given decency. I like to think our bumbling Cork man is just in over his head and not a baby fucking monster so there’s that at least. I dunno. I’m so tired man.

Absolutely disgusted at him. The last few times have been uncomfortable but with what Trump has been doing and saying recently this is completely out of order. Trump is a disgusting human being and nobody should have anything to do with him unless they absolutely have to. I understand the need to keep him happy etc. etc. but there has to be a point where you just say no

  19. dataindrift on

    It’s ceremonial & is a diplomatic necessity.

Once it is presented humbly I see no issue. If we spray paint them gold, that’s a bit different!

  20. BandZealousideal5719 on

After the video he just posted about the Obamas? lick arse!

  21. The best case scenario is that Martin gets in and out without much fuss. Photo of bowl, Doonbeg waffle, out. Afterwards the Americans don’t pull another stunt like last year with McGregor on actual St Patrick’s Day. The job’s OXO and we live to cringe another year.

But there are big risks: our Taoiseach sits there as the Americans give him the Zelenskyy treatment to get the digs in at EU partners. Ireland plays rope a dope. Trump pressures Martin in person to join his “Board of Peace” and uses Martin to get the digs in at the UN. Or Trump goes off on one of his mad rambles with Martin having to sit there gurning on camera and on the record as Trump undermines Irish policy or tradition. I’d be tense now until the 18th March. 😬

The spineless weasel would have shaken hands and exchanged pleasantries with Hitler, Mussolini, and Franco too. People like him are only concerned about their own benefit, and at any cost.

They pretend to have ethics and values beyond themselves, because taking off that mask would make them social pariahs, but it’s only performative and disappears under excuses as soon as there’s a cost to pay.
