That’s exactly the direction things are heading. The US has largely stepped back from direct financial funding for Ukraine, yet it reaps the benefits of acting as a mediator (securing commitments from Ukraine and Russia regarding resource deposits and other concessions).

In essence, Europe is now shouldering the entire financial burden—from paying for weapons to supporting refugees—yet it has precious little leverage to actually influence the conflict.

Even imposing energy sanctions backfires, as it only deepens Europe’s dependence on the US, while Russia finds loopholes with American acquiescence—through special permits or trade via various Arab states.

Well of course. USA and Russia are allies and not a single American is doing anything to stop Trump. Its in the US national security strategy to destroy EU and weaken Europe by siding with Russia and funding the far-right.

So much for that mining deal Ukraine struck with Trump, that was supposed to contain security guarantees. As with most deals with Trump, it’s not worth the toilet paper it’s written on.

I’m certain such a deal already exists. Zelensky needs to realize this is a European issue and doesn’t need US involvement. It is himself who is involving them.

They are ideological siblings. Of course Trump will strike a deal if he gets enough concessions. Even just MONEY would be great for him, there’s nothing he wouldn’t sell if the price is right, and Putin can certainly raise him

Even if they do it does not mean Ukraine has to abide by them since they are not a signatory of it. The war will end once Ukraine and Russia agree on a peace treaty not USA and Russia.

  7. > “Intelligence showed me the so-called ‘Dmitriev package’ that he presented in the U.S. — it amounts to around $12 trillion,” Zelensky said, describing it as a proposed framework for large-scale U.S.-Russia economic cooperation.

It’s the reason why Trump & friends are so pushy. They stand to make billions doing business with the Russians. Trump just wants Ukraine to cede the Donbas so that Putin will agree to doing business.

If such nonsense goes public, let’s hope Ukraine declines their bullshit and Europe fully backs Ukraine.

Seriously, couldn’t Europe have other neighbours?

Ukraine was minding her own business and the attacked and invaded. Twice. They had enshrined in their Constitution the neutral status, ie no NATO.

Two cities are keeping the rest of us Europeans under constant attacks, hybrid warfare, meddling into our politics, misinformation, cyber attack, arsons, incendiary bombs, funding of Islamist extremists. They have at their disposal the largest country in the world, and yet they need to expand them “Lebensraum” at a pathetic level. For example, in Georgia they move at night the border fences and there are countless cases of Georgians waking up in…. russia.

Now those two cities have made the devil’s deal with the US that backstabbed us all.

This is why we need us European to stick together more than ever and to help our Ukrainian brothers and sisters. Some twits say it is a burden: it is not, it is for ourselves as well, because all of us will profit from a peaceful Europe.

These talks are void, ruscists are only taking time in order to stockpile weapons.

For Russia its easier to just negotiate with USA and have USA tell everyone to get in line.

At every chance we get, we must remind the Americans that this is not going to stand.

It must be nice blaming a nation across the ocean for all of your faults.

”Bilateral deals on Ukraine” means ”how much for trump to betray Ukraine and Europe”.

And we all know trump has a price.
