Of course they would. “Valentine’s Day” is mostly over-commercialised rip-off nonsense.

  2. During a cost of living crisis people are looking for ways to save money,

More on this story at 11.

Is journalism now a case of getting a headline and asking chat gpt to make a 1000 word article on it?

Tell that to the people who booked up the restaurant I was supposed to get a table for.

Of course, you can save money but most importantly you can be in the comfort of your own home.

You can have whatever food you want without adhering to a menu, watch a film without dealing with other people and have whatever you want to drink without breaking the bank

Been with my missus for nearly 20 years and we’ve never celebrated Valentines Day – why celebrate on that one day when we love each other the other 364 days?

Also, we wete tight T-Rex arms students back then. Even now when we’re comfortable, a simple home cooked meal, cheese board and a decent movie (LOTR) to enjoy the evening of each other’s company will suffice.

Mostly because its a lot cheaper.

And I’m single, but thats not the point

“Wanna stay home get pizza and fuck?”

Tough question let’s ask the audience…

The rugby is on this weekend, even the misses would rather stay in and watch that

I would rather stay at home with a romantic movie and snacks together. better than going out on a cold rainy night for a meal and a stroll.

My wife and I dont do presents, cards, “romantic meals”, we watch zombie movies and eat snacks!

Yes. Couple of ready meals, wine, and a film.

We don’t want to go out in the pissing rain to be ripped off, then get fucking drenched in the rain on the way back. We want to get fucked, but not in that way

We went to Aldi last night and got some steaks and wine, we aren’t going out and would much rather stay at home together. It’s my birthday next week anyway, I don’t wanna spend money on Valentine’s Day when my 30th is right there. 😂

Transport alone you’re looking at £20 to £40 total for a trip in a taxi there and back for most people and that’s before you even left the house. Can you really blame people?

We would love to go out, but my husband is bed-bound so we’ll get a supermarket meal deal instead.

The type to bother responding to such a survey would obviously skew results

    It’s expensiiiiiiiiive.
So once the kids are in bed, we’re gonna get really high, play Fortnite and eat cheese like adults.

I mean, we went to play darts yesterday in a group of 4 for 1 hour. We had 2 ciders and 2 mineral waters + 1 dart lane

Paid £60 with a 33% discount on drinks! Otherwise it would be 75£.

Then I spent £8 just for the underground return journey.

So for 1 hour fun with friends you are down almost £100 if you wanna invite them and you dont split it.

Prices are just absolutely insane, people cant afford to go out and have fun anymore

  18. Where I live, most of the semi-decent places to eat out: steak £30+, pasta £18+, two starters £15+, 4 glasses of prosecco/wine £30+. Add VAT, service charge and, God forbid, you decide to pop in for an extra drink somewhere, you’re looking at £120-£150 for a night out. No wonder most people choose to stay the fuck home.

When your birthday is the 15th

    And you’re a man

You grow to loathe this day with a real passion

I’ll let you work out why

Valentine’s Day is probably second only to Christmas as over commercialised holidays to. Having a day to express love for your partner etc is great (though you should do it regularly anyway), but you can absolutely do that without buying overpriced tat and paying too much for some mediocre food at a rammed restaurant.
