So they used it for killing Ukrainians since 2023, and now after ban they started crying?
Good.

I don’t like the Russian or Iranian governments, I don’t like their motives, and I am certain they are only complaining because they are on the losing side and wouldn’t hesitate to do the same if they were on the winning side.
Buuuuut, they do have a point.

Russia’s furious because there’s nothing it can do about Starlink.
It has nothing comparable — just a few scattered satellites that are a pathetic substitute.
Judging by reports from Russian military bloggers, the disconnection of unverified Starlink terminals has severely disrupted coordination between units, all but destroyed communication with sabotage and assault teams, and reduced the effectiveness and precision of their drones.

Not quite sure which provision this is in violation of, and frankly, what would the repercussion be for violating a signed treaty like this one. These days, international law seems to be worth less than the paper it is printed on, so I doubt this is anything other than noise.
If I had to guess how this violates the indicated provision, it would be the “the exploration and use of outer space shall be carried out for the benefit and in the interests of all countries and shall be the province of all mankind”. In this case, clearly they believe as a signatory that the use of these satellites go against the point of being for the benefit and interest of all countries. However, don’t all spy satellites do this? Unsure how the starlink system is particularly unique.
Though I suppose it is of concern if we are trying to contest space, I can’t imagine conflicts up there would be good for anyone. Imagine if Russia, or similar nation with a space program, conducts sabotage campaigns that we’ve seen in Europe, but over satellites? Would be rather annoying, and I would imagine there could be debris from one satellite which could knock around onto others rather unpredictably.

When it comes from Iran and Russia, it MUST be true.. they are truly experts in violating international law.

I have a question for this sub.
Looking at the comments, several point out the irony in *specifically Russia and Iran* complaining about violating international law. There are two possibilities. Either the governments of these two countries know they are in the wrong, and are just hoping to get what they want anyway. Or these people **actually believe** that the world view they project as being theirs is virtuous. I am honestly not sure which one is worse. What do you all think?
