“On a quiet weekend just after Christmas, a group of thieves broke into a High Street bank in the western town of Gelsenkirchen, by boring through a wall with an industrial drill.”

In what world is a city with 262k people a town?

State of the art security are vibration and motion sensors and are not circumvented by unlocking a fire exit.

Also, the security service didn’t even look into the vault where the fire alarm went off? Sus

  3. Nobody really knows how much was stolen. People, many of the immigrants, who didn’t trust the banking system or didn’t want the tax people and other authorities to know about their wealth, kept their valuables in these boxes. Lots of gold was presumably in there.

    Nobody knows how much.

Victims have a reason to inflate the contents of their lockboxes in hopes that insurance will be after all, but victims also have a reason to keep their mouth shut about valuables they officially didn’t own.

Plus there is lots of sentimental stuff in there and things like paperwork that holds no value to the thieves but immense value to the Victims.

Not a single motion, vibration, or sound sensor in the vault.. brilliantly stupid setup.
