Yep, beer is the “everyday” drink. Rakija is the favourite, national drink, but it is very strong, so normal people drink it only on special occasions.

Yes and that bottle is very interesting to me lol, I love it.

As for your question, it’s basically a split between beer and rakija being the most popular. 10 years ago I drank purely beer and lots of it, nowadays I indulge in rakija because it doesn’t cause me stomach bloating and discomfort, I don’t need to piss all the time, and I don’t get headaches from it (I always down a few sips of water with one shot of rakija; can’t really do that with beer).

People here prefer stronger spirits like rakija, but a lot of people also drink beer. I’d say we drink less beer than most of Central Europe.

People drink huge amounts of home made rakija. That means it’s not store bought, but someone you know made it, so the numbers will not show up as a statistic.

Beer is the 2nd most popular (alcoholic) drink

    5. I think no more than other countries, rakija and wine are probably more popular, but if you are going to watch some sports match for example then you would probably go for beer.

We actually like to brag that we drink a lot but I personally don’t feel it is true.

Beer and rakija. People drink other alcohol as well but it’s not  the most popular

We drink everything with alcohol 🙂 I drink more Coca-Cola 🙂 more or less the same. If I’m up, my liver is the same as if I drink alcohol every day 🙂 I am not an alcoholic, I am a Coca-Cola addict 🙂 😃

    9. No, that’s just a stereotype, western Europeans drink way more alchohol than us, we drink a lot of coffe

It’s a bit hard to compare rakija and beer, since you’ll drink three 0,33 mL bottles while watching a game on TV, but will have maybe five 4 cL shots of rakija on a night out. The volume will always be on the side of beer because it’s not as strong as rakija. Also, if you counted how many bottles were bought, brandy might actually knock it out of the park simply because much of rakija is home-made.

We do drink a lot although nowhere near central European slavs or eastern. Beer is by far most popular alcoholic beverage, but again we can’t hold a candle to Polish let’s say.

Yup, u can’t go wrong with bear. Rakija is for the special occasion.

    13. Beer is chill, very normal to just go for a beer any day of the week after work with the homies. Rakija on the other hand is the one you chose when you wanna go wild.

    14. Statistically around the European middle field when it comes to beer consumption.

Rakija preko dana, uvece pivo. Mada u kafani pivo. Da pijemo dosta piva i sve uostalom, vino isto.

Ja ne znam odakle vama ideja da se rakija toliko pije. Mozda ranije, mozda medju starijim generacijama. Vecina ispod 30 ne pije rakiju redovno, eventualno po kafanama.

    17. Beer on the north, wine on the south, and ofc rakia everywhere.

    18. Teachers_Pet_01 on

For reference, beer per capita consumption(l/year):
      Turkye – 10.9
      Serbia – 54.7
      Croatia – 85.5
      Germany – 99.0
      Romania – 100.3
      Czechia – 126.0

      That’s for 2019, likely a bit lower for 2025

    19. You know shit’s wild when you have a carp printed on the beer bomb
