Il governo è sollecitato a garantire il diritto al lavoro a distanza poiché i bacini di reclutamento si stanno “diminuendo” a causa della mancanza di flessibilità da parte dei datori di lavoro

Let’s be honest Ireland is a shit place to live ~ nobody’s choosing to live here, folks come here because of the good money and flexibility but they don’t plan to stay. Now take away the flexibility and ensure that salaries are not up keeping with food and housing inflation … Ireland is in the midst of it.
Nice of Labour to have identified what employers are doing wrong and saving them from themselves.
A right to remote work will just encourage companies to outsource more jobs overseas.
Remote working, contrary to hybrid, allows people to live across the full island, easing pressure on main cities prices, traffic and revitalising small towns.
And for those worried about offshoring, 1. Companies need employees in Ireland to take advantage of lower taxes and 2. Outsourcing is already happening, forcing high salaries and high office expenses will not stop it but it will accelerate it
Apart from recruitment… lower carbon emissions, ease rent and house prices, less travel expenses, decentralise and stimulate local economies
Oh and simply that it’s the obvious thing to do for the masses to have a better balance in life
Maybe I’m missing something but are employers actually experiencing a shortage in candidates?
Feels like we’re in an employers market right now more than anything else.
It’s honestly killing new hires and junior staff
The trick they’re missing here is that it has to be more favourable financially to hire remote workers.
Offer reduced employer’s PRSI, pro-rated, for every employee who works at least 80% of their job remotely within Ireland.
For companies under 250 people offer a grant per-employee for each new remote worker you hire.
Government fund remote working hubs all over the place offering seats at near-cost rates.
Create an obligatory purchase fund where the state must buy a commercial property from you if you ask them to. The state gets to set the price, and you only have to pay half of the tax you otherwise would have.
Strengthening workers rights isn’t going to create more remote jobs.
They won’t do that. They, as an employer, are actually increasing days in the office, core departments are increasing days and ignoring the unions requests on it..

i disagree with a right to remote work , some jobs cant do remote working due to the nature of teh job , also remote working isnt for everyone ( from skiving to do work , to people house not suited to wfh)
if theirs a right to remote work , whats stopping companies moving the said job to say asia ?
Recruitment pools are not shrinking, they’re increasing if anything
It’s only the realestates people and the useless middle management who suddenly standing out as sour thumbs as not being worth to keep around, and losing the companies money, there is no other reasons to block remote work. If managers does their work properly and focus on the end result, instead of how much pain the workers go through to get there, they might actually find this being way better for everyone.
I love working from home….but it’s not a right
