Why even call them millionaires, they’re clearly poor.

Let me guess: they don’t have enough taxable income.

    Mystery solved.

I always thought that only my country is disgustingly corrupt. Clearly, I was mistaken.

Global wealth tax is needed, people are homeless yet there are 10s if not 100 times more empty homes and apartments as investments. People are in food lines while we over produce food just so millionaires and billionaires don’t have to depart from a single penny.

Every nation does nothing but revolve their societies around debt and the interest of those debts. Insane and ridiculous world we live in.

  5. Is there any country in the world where the rich actually pay fair taxes?

  6. HunterThin870 on

Obviously they dont pay income tax, since they don’t have jobs and dividents are taxed with capital gains tax.

Title is technically true yet economically misleading. Yes many company partners do not pay income tax because they get paid in dividends which are taxed.

Actually there is no issue, and I hate this kind of titles because what the article really say is:
    – French pay income tax on income
    – those 13,335 millionaires don’t have enough income but have more than 1,3 millions € in real estate
    – according to French law they pay an extra “real estate wealth tax” instead.

So at the end, it’s a non issue because the problem was solved in… 2017 !

Then we forget capital gain tax and all the mandatory taxes that everyone pay on their real estate, investments etc…

In French we call those articles “put-à-clic”. I leave you to translate that. But know that Le Monde is a newspaper that can deviate on his very left from time to time. We tend to forget that.

Close the loopholes. Tax the rich. At the same rate that normal labour pays.

And France will solve this by some random tax that middle to upper class will pay but the rich as usual will avoid.

  11. There are always loopholes.

Let me guess: they do not have any income but regularly take out loans from banks issued against their equity. So even if the bank would make a cutthroat offer its still beats getting paid big money and taxing it. Love it…

Smart multimillionaires (and maybe even more so billionaires) should understand that the only reason their heads are still on is a social contract between them and the lower classes.

If I was ever to reach such net worth, I’d be more than happy to pay more in taxes – it means I’m creating a better (and safer) community around me..

They’re just playing the game, created by the politicians the majority voted for.
