I’m not a mountaineer,  does ” go get help” mean continue to the summit, and down the other side?

  2. The fact that he turned his phone on silent after the call that he waited for a long time to make is what lead to this verdict mainly, I think.

From my understanding the legal core of this case was always whether he can be considered a “de factor mountain guide” just on account of having more experience. This of course is a complicated question within mountaineering settings between “well duh you are responsible for your fellow mountaineers” and “wait, so you are always legally on the hook now if you go hiking with your buds”?

Personally: the story with the previous girlfriend makes him sound like a piece of shit person with a mean temper. And that is a just really unacceptable in such high stakes/dangerous environments.

I doubt he did it on purpose like some speculate, but he sounds like he stormed off in a huff cause he was mad at her and that’s why he prevented her from getting the help she needed. Now that he’s got a conviction, he’ll hopefully think twice before he does that again, which was the point of the trial.
