A qualification is not the same thing as an education.

Unfortunately I don’t think it’s a really good comparison. A lot of successful and smart people working in the trades (electricians, plumbers, mechanics etc) are probably doing better than someone with a bog standard Bachelor of Arts degree from a university.

A lot of university degrees nowadays are useless

Quantity versus quality. Ireland could improve its education significantly even just by emulating countries that do better than it in quality

User: posts some heartwarming, genuinely good news about Ireland in r/Ireland

95% of the thread: Waaah! This can’t be true! Ireland doesn’t do good things! Ireland isn’t a serious country! How can I bitch and moan online if Ireland is doing well at something! Waaah!

    Lighten up, you cribbing killjoys.

I know so many without a Bachelor’s Degree who I would call well educated whereas, I know many with one who I wouldn’t leave a pet goldfish with for it’s own safety

Not surprised to be honest. Our education system is really good.

    That’s really good.

I do wonder what the data is relying on.

For instance, is it places offered to people, is it graduates, is everyone resident, is it based on the most recent census?
