    > The incident, involving a car, occurred on the Slane Road at around 8.20pm. The driver of the car failed to remain at the scene.

    > The girl, who was walking a dog when she was struck by the car, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda, but was later pronounced dead.

I wonder if she could have been saved if he stopped. What a scumbag.

Isn’t this the third hit and run in a couple of weeks, and the 5th pedestrian accident in a month? there was a woman knocked down around the same time that poor girl was killed by the scrambler last month

The state of driving in this country is a disgrace. Drivers need to take a look at themselves and realise how dangerous their vehicles are. It’s gotten to the stage where it is absolutely reckless. And the guards couldn’t be arsed to do a thing about it.

I genuinely hope this person gets the book thrown at them and rots for running away. Disgusting behaviour

Have been almost knocked down a few times in recent months at pedestrian crossings because the drivers were using their phones and not paying attention to lights.

Issues are the result of a combination of the RSA having gone too soft on advertising road safety, lenient sentences, drug driving having increased massively, the huge lack of enforcement, and people having no ethics (nobody needs to be using their phone while driving unless they are emergency services – there should be a ban on a phone being anywhere near a driver when they are driving).

So sorry for the girl and her family.
