Great idea, before Trump discovers Iceland is an island in the Arctic.

Iceland would be the least populated country with 376k . Malta is 553k

First Iceland, then Greenland, then Canada. Then the EU will be the real North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

I‘m interested to see if that will sway the Norwegians, as this would mean the only other «relevant» country has left the EEA (no shade to Liechtenstein, I’m just talking geopolitically).

I wouldn’t like an Iceland with a 50,5% support to the EU to be inside the EU.
It’s an extremely small and very euroskeptic country.
There are countries with multiple cities more populated than Iceland, one of them is Lituania.
It’s a very isolated place with a strong island mentality.
I would like Iceland in the EU only if hypothetically the veto got removed or if the icelandic population becomes significantly less euroskeptic.

The EU should relax some policies and focus more on defence, so that Iceland, Norway and the UK (and maybe even non European countries like Canada) can join.
