Glad to see with automation and new technology, capitalism has still not invented a single way to reduce working hours since the 1900s.

“A slowing in what has been a red hot jobs market would be no surprise and no harm either.”

Good god. Head in the sand as to what is happening out there.

I don’t know about any other industry but in tech we’ve been hiring only for “senior” positions for about 2 or 3 years now.

Young Irish people have been taking a kicking for a while now, why take a punt on some young Irish person when you can hire someone from abroad with 10 years exp, for junior money into a “senior” role? And they’re on a visa system which binds them to you and makes them dependent on keeping the job.

I’m still in a job, but was looking to move this year and it does look very dry out there. In tech anyway.

How am I meant to break out of retail when every other job requires years of experience which I can’t get because I don’t have years of experience 😭😭😭
