What confuses me is that even if it had been cut out of the TV broadcast… it would still have happened?

Feeling awfully sorry for John Davidson, who has been subject to an awful pile-on from ignorant Americans.

  2. An important bit of context is that he said “fuck the queen” and called her a bitch when he met her. It’s not about race – it’s just a temptation to say something inappropriate

Absolutely sick of Americans losing their heads over this.

This place is full of racists that apparently think that black people should just suck it up if they have a slur shouted at them. Also very interesting that people here all of a sudden care about disabled people only now and not when it’s about PIP.

  6. This is all making me really want to see “I Swear”. Apparently it is released her win Sweden on March 27th.

Apparently Americans get it in April. Maybe some of them will go see it and learn something.

So many ignorant people on X saying he shouted that word on purpose and why would that word be in his vocabulary… let’s not pretend that many many songs blurt the word out every other line and that the word is used in lots of films as well.

My only hope of this situation is that it brings attention to the condition and also the film. John is an exec producer so hopefully it makes people watch the film and he gets a bit of money out of all this at the same time.

I feel really bad for John. At any point he might need a minder.

This is entirely on BBC imo. If it’s edited out then this is a non issue as it’s contained to the audience and theg can explain it in a controlled environment. But no, they left it in, yet could edit out ‘free Palestine’.

We really need a serious debate on the use of this word. A lot of hypocrisy

This sub is such a microcosm of the UK as a whole. You’re all decrying how stupid and ignorant Americans are, all the while saying things that are pretty fucking racist. You don’t see your own blind spots – and that’s a very dangerous thing.

In this sub alone I’ve seen massively upvoted comments that “words can’t hurt”, “they pick and choose when they want to use it”, “I’ve lost all sympathy for them”.

It’s almost like Brits as a whole aren’t much smarter than the average American. But just as smug and entitled.

For the record, I support John and don’t think he meant to cause harm. But in defending him, we shouldn’t minimise the pain of black people. We can’t ask for empathy, while offering none to others.

This is exactly what the bbc wanted, took your mind off everything else didn’t it.

Am I the only one wondering what the media is trying to bide by making this bigger news than it should be?

The Americans are going crazy. Contrary to the British POV, where we have understanding and reasoning. Some of the comments I have seen are sickening. Some calling for death of a disabled man
