*The Croatian Bureau of Statistics (CBS) published its first estimate on Friday, according to which the gross domestic product (GDP) in the fourth quarter of last year grew by 3.6 percent in real terms compared to the same period last year.*
*This is the 20th consecutive quarter that the economy has grown, and significantly faster than in the previous quarter, when growth was 2.3 percent. Thus, according to the first estimate, the economy grew by 3.2 percent in the entire last year.*

13 years since they joined tbe EU, plus the ramping up before.
As always EU manages to increase the GDP of the poorer countries that join. And it’s a win win combo. The richer countries pay to help the newcomers, but then they end up with another interesting market next door.
Bravo to Croatia, not that long ago, in tbe 90s, they were at war
Hope we can do the same for Ukraine.
Slava EU !

And living standards are still quite … lacking. Because they hit you at the most vulnerable places: food and housing. Couple that with still quite awful jurisdiction and mediocre health system with long, long waiting lists(idk how it’s elsewhere though) and …
…yeah, who cares about GDP whose primary growth component are “investments”(as such, banking sector etc)?
You know, I would much rather if they actually fixed problems than if a stat is “huge”. I mean, this is great, but trust me, not a lot is being done with it. For truly important stuff, that is.
