Im no fan of President Trump but hes been right about starmer and the damage he’s done to the special relationship. This needs to go ahead to repair that.

Daft to call for it to be cancelled. The US is the world’s biggest superpower and as a country, an incredibly significant trading partner. You don’t have to like Trump but the facts remain. Diplomacy is required. Like politics used to be. Not teenaged petulance that we too often see today.
Although widely expected, and no doubt lots of planning has happened, I don’t know that it has been officially announced therefore I wouldn’t expect a big announcement cancelling it. It will be quietly postponed “to a later date” which may or not happen.

Stooping to the level of petulance displayed by Trump really isn’t in our best interests currently. The US is a hugely important ally, whether people like to hear it or not.
Of course the king should be going, he knew exactly what Trump was when he agreed to go, now he has to suffer the embarrassment of his decisions.

Nah, he should go, and tell Trump to his face what an absolute tit he is and how he’s single handedly destroying the US’s place in the world. He’s probably one of about 3 people worldwide who has a chance of actually getting through.
How is there even a debate over this? The idea that he deserved to a second state visit was already a silly one, but he has spent the last few months openly insulting us, including our armed forces. I understand the diplomatic reasons behind state visits and Trump, more than most leaders, has an enormous ego that is massaged by the silly pageantry of gold carriages and all that, but the current US administration is not a reliable ally. We’re not getting anything back from a state visit.
Although, if he does come, I’d be glad to join in the mother of all protests.
