    Undoubtedly more than a few people are going to be questioning why this is a crime at all given the impression that there were seemingly no actual children involved, but it’s important to understand that ***all*** AI-generated image are based off of and trained on existing real-world images, meaning that in order to generate this type of material in the first place, it must be trained off of actual CSAM.

    By having these sorts of images you’re technically victimisation not just one child, but hundreds of thousands of them combined.

    I have no idea if CSAM was used in training but to say they “must” have used it to be able to generate it is a false statement.

    Right near the bottom of the article is this paragraph;

    *When he was arrested, his seized devices showed more than 3,800 indecent images of children, including more than 600 of the most serious category, dating back as far as 2016.*

    There was no ‘AI’ back in 2016, he was collecting pictures of children being raped for at least a decade. He’s a paedophile and to not, at the very least, activate his suspended sentence for continuing to offend is a travesty of justice.

    But Elon Musk the renowned womens rights activist said this is ok…

    I can’t get my head around stuff like this.

    I imagine it’s his sexuality, which is the case for (I think) 5% of the population. It’s something we really need to address.

    There’s also the conversation we need to have around AI child porn and whether this could be a good thing to stop paedophiles offending, or watching content that harms children.

    It’s such a gross topic to have a balanced discussion about though.
