Lock him up and throw away the key. He was one of the chief architects of this loan sharking.

lol he was in the government that abolished student maintenance grant, abolished EMA, increased fees from £3000 to £9000 then pissed off with his contacts to work for meta in a cushy role.

Says the man who was deputy prime minister at the time of the tripling of tuition fees? Fuck right off.

This is like when my kid complains about someone leaving a nearly empty carton of milk in the fridge.

  6. Doesn’t matter, problem of the past. Your 2008 election manifesto said that if you got in to power you would abolish them, and you got in to power in a coalition with the Tories.

So far this week we’ve had Blair wade in on Iraq, Clegg wade in on Student loans; can’t wait for Cameron to tell us Brexit was a bad idea 🤨

  8. Man literally tanked his party for 15 years due to this issue. And have still never regained the trust of students

At least he got to sit in the big chair when Hameron was out of the room though eh?

  10. It’s fascinating to see how people view the Lib-Dems on student tuition when the Tories, if they had secured a majority in 2010, would likely have removed the cap on tuition fees altogether and implemented a total free market in education which would like have seen ‘prestige’ universities charging fees comparable to US Ivy League institutions.

Did the Lib-Dems campaign on abolishing tuition fees altogether? Yes. Did they secure a majority? No. That meant that if they went into coalition government then they would have to compromise – this is something that happens as a matter of routine in countries where they have PR which is an electoral system I suspect many people attacking the Lib-Dems on tuition fees would want.

Could they have made tuition fees a red-line and refused to go into coalition with the Tories? Yes. But that would likely have resulted in a minority government and the sort of chaos in governance that was later to characterise the Brexit years. And remember that that chaos ultimately resulted in a Tory government with a substantial majority under Bozo…

Do you think any of these people ever acknowledge privately the roles they play in is moving from 1 car crash to another.

  12. He ruined his party to support this mess, even though he was told he didn’t need to by George Osborne himself.

    What a tit.

This Judas needs to be fired into the sun. He could have ended it before it even begun but no he suckled at the pig fucker Cameron’s teet, ruined his own party and fucked over the young for decades.

Does anybody remember the interview where this tosser was like “we’re increasing student loans, but *we’re sorry*”. I remember how he said it as well, he can fuck right off. You did this you bellend.

  18. Not sure Nick Clegg should be making judgement on this, unless it is to apologise for making the mess.

  19. SensitivePotato44 on

Why is that Nick? Do you have any special insight seeing as how it’s largely your fault.

  20. No respect for this thing at all. Single handedly destroyed the Lib Dems and then went to go work for a tech oligarch. His words are worth nothing
