I think that the world, Ukraine included, does not understand how bad this would be. After Trump pretty much killed all support for Ukraine, publicly berated Zelensky and constantly helped Russia, now easing off sanctions, giving anything to Trump will work like this:

Trump has a narcissistic disorder, he is mentally ill, he does not think normally. He does everything from that perspective. He aligns himself with people he believes are “great”. People he admires, usually strong or conmen (Putin, Bibi and other dictators).

If Ukraine doesn’t bleed the US dry for this help, Trump will just go like “see how great I am? The best Ukraine has will work for me, and I didn’t have to spend a dime, I’m the best at the art of the deal” and other such nonsense. In essence, he will take the help but give little to nothing to Ukraine, while shitting on international law and giving Russia everything. Ukraine and the West have to stop thinking and acting as if things are normal. You cannot expect a fraud, convicted felon and rapist to keep his word, especially after he broke it several times just last year.

When the enemy of your enemy bombed a kindergarten to help your other enemy quadruple their oil revenue when they were on the brink of economic collapse, they might not be your friend.
