This initially confused me because I thought Ukraine already had a few SAMP/T systems but it’s clear that this is about brand new SAMP/T NG as in Next Generation.
They are designed for a variety of incoming threats. These systems originally protect naval vessels. The manufacturer could improve the system in real world context right now. No other R&D money could be spent. Then their role protecting Ukraine can be expanded.
*Win-win.*
Is France leapfrogging over the USA in defense technology? The Patriot is a great system, but no doubt it could be even better.
I hope France pulls this off.
