No matter what I think about the politician politically, I always have some sympathy for someone entering a press meeting with Trump. It must be like desperately hoping the child you had no other choice but to drag into a job interview doesn’t make a scene.

Fuck Churchill. Is MAGAman trying to say that as a compliment?

  3. Trump …. the man child.

Using Obama’s middle name in a way to put him in the same light as Saddam.

The same guy calling Newsom as New-scum.

I’m sure MAGA love it … it’s akin school ground bullying.

And you’re not FDR or Harry Truman. You’re a semiconscious fetid pumpkin on your best days.

Churchill was deeply racist so not being Winston Churchill is probably a good thing.

Someone tell Micheál those British boots won’t lick him back

    Edit

I appreciate all the downvotes, but of all the people he chose to defend, it was an English ‘human rights’ lawyer who requested to defend a British soldier who murdered an Irish teenager, and ingratiated himself with the Parachute Regiment by playing football with them.

    Happy St Patrick’s Day stoopers

Yeah and Trump is no Obama … we can’t always get what we want.

Would never happen in a million years but you’d love if Martin had some spine to point out that Winston Churchill was no beacon of perfection – Bengal famine, Gallipoli etc.

Reality is, no adult ever expects to have to deal with an emotional septuagenarian toddler, let alone one wielding almost absolute power. We all mature and grown up expecting that, eventually, we’ll deal with other adults at the business end of life. Intelligence or cop on might vary but the default is a presumed spectrum of maturity.

It’s instructive how after a whole term and near two years of another, no diplomat can manage anything except mumbling platitudes with the mad king. What else can one do? The lunatic ranting on the roadside can be walked around, this transparent maniac can launch nukes.

Did he ask Martin where he learned to speak English so well?

‘Ah no, he’s actually sound’ – the undefeated line of Irish diplomacy used to quell talk behind backs in pubs for generations.

Trump is so horrendously bad as an individual that he’s getting a Taoiseach to defend a british pm.

It’s like Luke Skywalker standing up for Tarkin against Emperor Palpatine or Elrond standing up for Sauron against Morgoth.

I know this is only q short cut, and I haven’t seen anything else, but I think Martin did well there.

Imagine being so completely stupid you praise a man who brought one of the most hated groups into Ireland while meeting the Irish leader on St Patricks Day
