This sounds like another one of those things like making it marginally harder to buy/carry a knife that is going to have the square root of fuck all effect on actual violent crime.

If I ever run into trouble on the Thameslink train it’s not going to be from a guy with a 3.1 inch locking swiss army knife. It’s going to be a chef’s knife, machete, cleaver, whatever.

What we need to look at is what changed between e.g. 50 years ago and now that meant that suddenly we feel the need to restrict everything. Is the culture different, are people different? Are there fewer police, fewer father figures, what is it?

Why don’t we just stop pussyfooting around and ban kitchen knives while we’re at it.

Well, when the sons ex girl friends stalker turned up on her door step he was carrying a crossbow and a samurai sword and shouting “I’m going to kill you all” understandably the coppers showed up and shot him.

Seems like a sensible decision. There is no good use for this type of lethal weapon

Thank God, now we can remember the lesson of Agincourt and all get longbows.

    6. I’m glad because now the weekly School Crowbow Shootings can end. /s

      How will this solve anything?

People can just stab with knives anyhow, which are vastly higher contributor to homicide anyhow.

I’d better go buy one now, just in case. 🤔 Cue massive surge in crossbow sales. 😁

Oh shit, I better stock up on my emergency crossbow supplies!

In the last 10 years, more people have been killed by TVs falling on them.

      Misleading from the Telegraph.

      [https://www.gov.uk/government/calls-for-evidence/controls-on-crossbows/outcome/controls-on-the-use-of-crossbows-on-public-safety-grounds-government-response](https://www.gov.uk/government/calls-for-evidence/controls-on-crossbows/outcome/controls-on-the-use-of-crossbows-on-public-safety-grounds-government-response)

It’s clear from the .gov website that policy has yet to be made and some form of licensing of the seller and owner of the weapon is the most likely direction with limits on arrows which are used for hunting which is already banned anyway.

God I hate this pathetic country and it’s banning culture

Honestly, I didn’t even know they were currently legal to buy them. Seem like a bit of an oversight for this to not already be regulated.

Gov really do just hate fun don’t they. Where tf are crossbow weilding robbers such a problem that would require this to be a thing? Must just be making doubly, tripply sure the populace remain unarmed, even to it’s logical conclusion.
