or give people here a better wage instead of deliberatly importing people who want to work for less?

So basically: We need more people, but we sure as fuck aren’t going to pay a decent wage. No no, that money has to stay with us as much as possible.
And then there’s people who say wage theft isn’t a thing and you’re being paid what you’re worth…
I’d say “Whatever helps you sleep” but the reality is that wage theft is harming everyone.
Christ, they’re almost literally saying “we feel we should be allowed to steal the value of wages, and there needs to be serene debate about allowing us to do that”
Because labor migration has been so positive in the past? There are families who migrated here 3 generations ago but still don’t speak any of our national languages at home.
I get it, cheap labor is nice, but once those people realize they’re getting paid peanuts for the work nobody here wants to do for those wages they’ll just enter our social system and become more of a cost for us. Taxes will increase and it will become even harder to compensate people fairly. Plenty of people here want to work but only if it pays. It doesn’t so we have a high population of inactives.That’s what we should fix.
