    > It runs alongside Project Vigilant, which involves the deployment of specially trained officers in plain clothes to identify concerning behaviour and stop it before it escalates.

    Sounds like a good idea.

The biggest issue with VAWG is evidence and catching them in the act when they think police aren’t around is a good move

What does ‘concerning behavior’ mean though. Are you allowed to approach a woman politely, and be rejected and leave?

    Protect women from whom?

    *flapping goose meme*

    Protect women from whom exactly?

At least it will also unintentionally help the people at most risk of violent behaviour in public spaces.

This can only ever be a good thing, where I live I’ve seen it numerous times where groups of blokes start acting weird around two or three women.

There’s an obvious vulnerability to young women on nights out where they want to look and feel good and enjoy themselves, often they get intoxicated and it’s then that they’re targeted, it’s predator on prey behaviour.

This isn’t an all man thing, I’d say it’s actually the very small minority, but why on earth would someone think it’s okay to target young drunk women and act in those ways, what’s the end goal there other than getting your kicks doing it, or pulling someone for sex?

I’ve been on nights out where I’ve seen completely sober blokes hanging around high footfall areas just waiting to target drunk young women and it’s genuinely creepy behaviour.

There’s a huge divide between drunk men hitting on drunk women at a nightclub or bar, and the ones who specifically target the women they think they can get a crack at, and it really becomes prevalent when you’re sober yourself and just observing and watching it happen, it mostly goes under the radar because in the nightclubs or city centre streets that it happens, people are only focused on themselves or the small friends groups they’re with, and not the other events happening around them.

As a man who was sexually assaulted on a night out, never got any help, and suffered for years afterwards alone… ok.
