      Could well be a WW2 era German soldier alright. I’m sure somebody will be able to tell what uniform it is. It doesn’t look like SS or anything. Could even be Luftwaffe.

      Great Uncle Gunther had no idea they were the bad guys, he was just following orders and anyway, he looks spiffing in his uniform.

      Looks like Rommel? Who was forced to commit suicide for plotting to kill Hitler.

      Rommel was pretty much the only WW2 German general who was seen as ‘respectable’ post war.

      Regular German army. Not SS or Luftwaffe. Could’ve been a career officer rather than a rabid Nazi.
