The Turks in these comments do not understand. It is not because “they are muslims!”. Many Albanians are Muslim, and I see them getting into EU before 2035. It is because, Turkey in the EU creates more problems than benefits for the EU countries. Everything to be gained by being allied with Turkey is already possible due to the NATO alliance. They would be one of the biggest country in the EU by population. The EU countries don’t want to become in a constant struggle between the founding members and Turkey alone. And even if, somehow, they do manage to become a serious candidate, Greece and Cyprus would never let them in until the Turks withdraw from the island and stop messing around in Aegean. They would become a second Macedonia.
