Also worth noting that [currently ](https://grid.iamkate.com/) we are producing 114% of demand and 8.8% of that is gas. Solar 20%, Wind 66%.
Edit
Into negative price. Those of you with batteries on octopus wholesale tarrif, best get charging.
Edit 2.
I find it crazy how people can be so negative about this.
When coal was being replaced people seemed to be generally happy. Now we are at the situation here where gas be turned off and we still be producing more than enough, it’s not seen as a positive?
Is it because we have a labour government so all achievements need to be negated.

This is great, but until we change the payment system whereby every supplier gets the highest payment for their electricity regardless of how it’s generated we won’t see the benefits reflected in our bills

Why aren’t we also doing geothermal?
We have literally the geology for it and it’s shown to be like 9TWh under our feet if we went for it…
Plus labour could literally say “We are drilling for power!” With a nice plan to build a few geothermal power plants

This is good we should start pushing solar more over wind.
Easier to build it close to where the powers needed, cheaper to build, cheaper to maintain, less grid infrastructure needed. It’s a win win.
