gotta keep the money coming
Whaaaat, are they still in the Russian market?
They do this pretty much everywhere. A company obeying the laws of the countries they operate in is not really news. They also obey EU laws – sometimes they challenge those laws in court as allowed by EU law, but if they lose in court they obey that law.
Apple will bow to anyone, if there’s enough money at stake
Apple is a particularly nasty company, but I wouldn’t blame them for following local laws for a change. There’s no shortage of other things to blame them for.
I wonder why Apple doesn’t criticize Russia or China like it often does with the EU. It definitely can’t be that Apple really cares only about money and not about its users. Nah, that’s not possible..
It’s not unique to Russia but many countries are pushing tech companies to follow local rules, which can conflict with global ideas of free expression
Apple is pro kremlin and pro terrorism

> When asked to comment on its removal of apps in late 2024, Apple said that failure to comply with Russia’s local laws “could mean that Apple would no longer be able to operate an App Store or distribute content in the country”, and added that the US government had encouraged it to continue to work in Russia as “democratic principles are best aided through the availability of these services”.
You mean Trump gave Apple the go ahead when they donated to his inauguration? They are rewriting what actually happened and why it happened.
Why??
I mean the wording “bowed to Kremlin” is kinda wrongly used and click-baity… Of course they have to “bow” to the law… they are just a company and not an entity that is above any country’s law they operate in…. They also “bow” to the US, EU, Australia, China, India etc law’s and regulations… About a year ago they removed a lot of apps from China’s app store, there are apps that are not “allowed” in EU’s store etc… just change your region/country in your account and then refresh the app store and you’ll see totally different apps / recommendations / boards with top free and top paid apps… Apple also “bowed” to EU’s demand. about opening up to 3rd parties access and EU’s competition clause (not sure that’s the official eng. word for that) also they lately complied (or bowed to if that’s the preferred word now) to EU’s Digital Markets Act… How come then we didn’t receive such a moronic title: “Apple reveals it bows to EU, to comply to their Digital Markets Act”…
