35 countries join to twiddle their thumbs until Israel and America give up on the war they started

Ok this is a genuinely admirable show of leadership by us, kind of proof of what we can do when we’re not just a US lieutenant, and have our own independent foreign policy.
Leadership of the middle powers is definitely something we’re capable of.
We’re a middle power now, but we’ve still got the muscle memory of a great power meaning we feel compelled to lead like this, a good thing in my opinion.
Be proud people, because we genuinely should be at this.

Interesting to see the UK take the leadership in this considering how some political podcast people seemed to be saying Starmer wouldn’t have the ability.

35 countries in one room feels less like diplomacy and more like the world’s most chaotic group project.

Can he get rid of Farage while he’s at it, send him packing to Epstein’s island or something and rejoin the EU as well?
Starmer getting a few things right 👏

I’ve got a wild idea. Stop bombing Iran. They’ll probably reopen the water, they hadn’t closed it before they were attacked.

Would be interesting to know why China, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Spain and Oman weren’t invited. Outside of Qatar and Saudi, these countries aren’t blindly loyal to the states or Israel.
These countries would have way greater impact on these talks than 75% of the countries listed.

Why does the UK need to be the country to host or chair this meeting?
Why can’t another country do it, and invite us along?

UK look at us big important country!
Sure the other 34 will be putting take over bids

Glad we are showing political leadership. Well as long as something comes of it.
Annoying almost no politician (with a few notable exceptions) took the warnings about the straight if Hormuz seriously. Despite defence types warning of a similar situation for years.
Decimated the minehunter fleet (along with everything else) through sale, scrapping & lack of replacements.

Step 1: The US ceases attacking Iran and withdraws.
Step 2: Iran re-opens the strait

Maybe Iran should be at the meeting, let the USA and Israel find another route, I would happily do a deal that specifically bans US and Israel from using the straight if that’s what It takes to ensure the safety of Hormuz

Another meeting, no doubt then Starmer will call a meeting to discuss the meeting and the meeting after that.

What once took the royal navy now needs support from 35 nations.

This should not include the US, since they weren’t including anyone else in their decision to fuck things up.
Feel free to negotiate an opening to shipping traffic for any ship that doesn’t head to the US
Edit: just read that bit
> The U.S. is not among the countries attending Thursday’s meeting. Trump has said securing the waterway is not America’s job, and told U.S. allies to “go get your own oil.”
Can’t wait for Trump’s next release being
“Our so-called allies did not invite the US to negotiations after all we’ve done for them. Sad. Hormuz cannot reopen without US.
Thank you for your attention to this matter”

Honestly I was very against Stamer prior to this stuff. He has absolutely won me over. I still strongly disagree with a lot of his internal policy however
