Shrinkflation in 2026 is so surprising. When I saw this post I almost died actually.

Can’t wait for next year when the eggs are even smaller, even thinner and cost a few euro more
They’ll keep doing this as long as they keep getting away with it
Im sure they’d put arsenic in the chocolate if it meant a 0.5% increase next quarter
I’ve just completely abandoned buying Easter eggs and buying Christmas chocolate boxes and the like
Honestly the part that’s more annoying than shrinkflation to me is the people still buying products that keep getting smaller and smaller year after year
And being shocked and appalled that this year they have, in fact, gotten smaller

The two part crimped foil, reminds me of the cheap eggs from the 80s, were they chocolate, who knows. But they were all my folks could afford. and usually came with off brand jelly tots inside.

Probably controversial to say, but maybe it’s for the best chocolate is getting shrinkflated and more expensive. We are all better off not eating that crap.

Tbf these were like €2.50 in the shops, you can’t expect decent quality. It’s a gimmick to give as a present with all the cardboard wrapped round. Kids love them as they don’t care on chocolate quality. For adults I’d avoid any nestle or Cadburys

I was gifted an Easter egg, and for some reason had forgotten about the squished ovoid shape. If a chicken laid an egg like that, I’d take it to the vet!

It’s amazing to me that these chocolate companies have fumbled one of their biggest (if not their biggest) sale periods like this. Price inflation, product shrinkage, and dropping quality. Think we’ve finally hit a point where people have said enough is enough
So many people I know this year did no eggs at all. Many more just got one egg of higher quality. When I was a kid they were being handed out left and right. Some years I had a dozen of them.
Takes a special kind of greed and stupidity to kill your golden goose.

Nah mate. Your hand just got bigger from last year. It’s all good.

Delighted all these idiots who bought shite Easter eggs are now disappointed with how shite their Easter eggs are.

Tbf they have varying sizes, this is either 207g or 155g package. These only cost 5 or 3 euro
I’ve got a 491g packet here and the egg is massive and cost about 10 euro.
Considering an average packet of Malteasers is about 1 euro and 37g – you’d expect to pay around 5 Euro for 200g of Chocolate. I wouldn’t expect much else for that value these days.
Honestly it’s more of buyer beware situation here, check the weight of what you’re buying rather than the price alone.
