Y’know it can be a bit of a crap shoot if we ‘fall in line’ Most EU countries don’t substitute the holiday to a Monday if it falls on a weekend. Even Christmas.
I certainly don’t want that system implemented here.

Not being a prick but I think one more is maybe enough. We already have loads. The EU neighbours they’re absolute scroungers in general. We should benchmark ourselves alongside the US, China and South Korea

October bank holiday weekend to include the Friday. The period from September to Christmas is awful long without a decent break.

‘The only EU countries that have fewer holidays are the notoriously miserable and poorly run states of the Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany’.
I would sooner spend this portion of the GDP on state capacity to build *literally anything*.

I’d rather take a day in lieu and work it – so much more covered when the phones don’t ring!

I wish there plans to introduce other things in line with our EU neighbours and the first things aren’t bank holidays

As a working parent of young children in schools I’d love to go a full two weeks without a bank holiday, holiday, teacher training day, school closure for weather or water outage! Though past and future u/GoodNegotiation would like more BHs I’m sure…
