    And there was welfare.

Poor lads. Mogadishu on the mediterrianean.

Some people use to forget that white europeans had to migrate too to escape misery in the past…

Don’t get why users see this as a bad thing. I bet 95% of the users here are under 30, and without enough immigration to reverse trends in the population pyramid, there won’t be a such thing as ‘retirement’ when we are old as the majority of the population will be old. Japan and Korea are extreme examples of this, where the countries are heading towards total demographic collapses and cannot sustain their way of living in the future.

Around the world, immigrants tend to commit less crime than citizens (in USA, they commit [~30% less crimes](https://www.npr.org/2024/03/08/1237103158/immigrants-are-less-likely-to-commit-crimes-than-us-born-americans-studies-find)) and *always* are [net contributors to the economy](https://www.npr.org/2024/09/20/nx-s1-5108947/immigrants-ohio-dayton-economy-job-growth) as they don’t get the same welfare benefits. In countries like Germany and USA, the stream of immigration is directly linked to both countries sustained economic growth over their peers.

I’d like to know: (this is an objective true thing) immigrants have lower crime rates and improve the economy. Why are people so against immigration? Because they are different? Assimilation tends to work over time (once again, see USA, Indians in UK, etc), so what’s the big fuss? The REAL ‘fairytale’ some users talk about here is the objectively incorrect statement that immigrants (especially in weaker welfare rights countries like Italy) aren’t straight up net benefits for society and the economy

I look forward to a future headline, ‘Ukraine population stops shrinking after war, thanks to Russian migration and occupation.’

    🙃

Wait what? But but but … Italian leftist redditors told me that Italy’s government is a fascist one, how can it be?

r/Europe trying not to be racist for 5 seconds challenge (impossible)

Weird wording. The amount of Italians is still shrinking, except now you also have foreign invaders in addition.

Lol woke leftist in the comments are trying so hard to justify why it is not a bad thing that Italians are getting replaced in their own native land…🤡🤡

Italian young expat here. Sadly, many times we are forced to leave the country for both career opportunity and survivability. As a PhD researcher the “offer” I received in Italy was 500 euros per month paid every 6 months ( so basically 3k every 6 months) to work more than 8h a day, including Saturdays and sundays for 4 years. Considering that the average rent in the city the offer was from is around 800 euros per month it’s just impossible. The problem is that Italian people keep electing the same politicians that slowly destroyed the country since 1994 and we all pay the consequences for that.

  14. A lot of commenters here don’t seem to understand that a country with an increasingly elderly population and low birth numbers, requires immigration to stave off economic collapse.

Without enough young people working to provide economic output, the eldery would be left without the pensions, health and social services they increasingly depend on in old age.

Cultural hegemony is a luxury a shrinking “native” population can’t any longer afford.

The population within Italy has increased yes, the Italian population is still decreasing. I’m sure overcrowding and depressed wages are great for birth rates. At least old people get to keep their pensions for 10 years though, it’s worth 100* years of civil unrest and terror for their descendants.

I don’t understand why population decline is inherently a problem. Rather than trying to boost fertility, society should be developing systems and industry that will enable the managing of a lopsided distribution. Trying to fix it with immigration is ridiculous. Make the main industry caring for the older generations – until the birth/death ratio equalises.
